As social media continues to drive conversations, we’ve seen important discussions move to apps like TikTok and Twitter. One of the most recent trends centers on TikTok users presenting themselves as a person who perished in the Holocaust.
This trend makes it clear that while students are grasping (to varying degrees) that there are lessons to be learned from this era in history, their responsibility to the memory of those killed in the Holocaust and how to respectfully share their thoughts is lacking.
The Conversation.com has posted a thoughtful article on this topic and CNN has an article with commentary from the Auschwitz Memorial Museum.
